The locomotive one of a batch of ten locomotives forming part of the GWR 3700 'City' Class, completed at Swindon Works in May 1903. With the up-coming 150th Anniversary of the formation of the Great Western Railway in 1985, “City of Truro” was restored once again to celebrate this occasion, and went on to haul a number of mainline tours across the country.
